Simon, Paul (Frederic)
(n. 13 oct. 1941, Newark, N.J., EE.UU.).

Cantautor estadounidense de música popular. En la década de 1950 comenzó a presentarse con Art Garfunkel (n. 1941), bajo el nombre de Tom y Jerry. Después de una ruptura, ambos volvieron a unirse en 1964 como Simon y Garfunkel. Su primer sencillo exitoso fue "Sounds of Silence (1966). Otros éxitos en los siguientes seis años fueron "Mrs. Robinson (para el filme El graduado) y "Bridge over Troubled Water. Tras disolverse el dúo, Simon lanzó varios álbumes exitosos, entre ellos Still Crazy After All These Years (1975). Su álbum Graceland (1986), grabado con músicos africanos, se convirtió en el más exitoso e influyente del nuevo género de la world music. Tanto la música africana como la brasileña conformaron su álbum The Rhythm of the Saints (1990). Junto con el poeta antillano Derek Walcott compuso la comedia musical de Broadway The Capeman (1998).
